About the Book About the Author Excerpts

About the Book

The book is a delightful yet serious attempt to assist parents with childrearing in a society that has been removed from the simple lessons of raising responsible children. The foreword addresses questions that parents ask me about my knowledge of child behavior. I present the If-then theory to give them food for thought on how a teacher can write a book on parenting when she's never been a parent.

I also qualify myself by giving a summary of my 'throw back' years or my growing up days and the strategies that my parents used to raise responsible children. I share the successes that the 'old-school' bringing up created for all nine of their children.

The book proceeds to explain ten thought-provoking steps to good parenting. It describes real-life situations and supplies verbal responses to different problems that often arise. For each step, the If-then clause is applied to further give thought to the 'problem'. And more importantly, Scripture references from the Bible are included, which will cause parents to examine a higher source of correction.

In the appendix, the parents can 'grade' themselves by using my tongue-in-cheek grading system.

About the Author

I have been writing since I was seven. I used my imagination in a positive way to escape many of the hardships that I faced growing up with the basic needs. The love of family was instilled in me from birth and is what has been the 'undercurrent winds pushing my sails'. I have been an educator for over thirty years- working with both children and their parents. Through the years, I have had to give advice to parents on how to make their children more responsible at school and at home. Parents are often surprised at the potential that their children have, simply because no one has 'pushed' the right buttons to get them to respond on a consistent basis and smile while they're doing it.
