About the Author

Rafael Fermoselle was born in Havana, Cuba, emigrated to the U.S. in 1962 and graduated with a Ph.D. from American University in 1972. He is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer and the author of several books and multiple articles on a variety of subjects.
He was awarded the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bronze Medal in 1998, as the Outstanding Supervisor/Manager of the International Trade Administration, and the U.S. Department of State's Superior Honor Award in June 2000.
Since 2002, Dr. Fermoselle has worked as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense. He was a SOSA instructor at the SJFHQ (CE) T/S at US JFCOM, and participated in support of CENTCOM, in advance of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He is a member of the SOSA cell, the Strategy, Policy and Assessments Directorate Effects Assessment Cell and the Strategic Assessments Operational Planning Team (OPT) at US EUCOM.
