About the Book About the Author Excerpts Catalogue Information About the Book
Balance focuses on Hamilton Kent, Jr. Aka Sook Sawad, a US Navy Gulf War Veteran seeking revenge on those in American Big Business and US Government officials who murdered his father and sold weapons to terrorists such as Al-Qaeda. Sook's father, Ham, was formerly in Naval Intelligence and ultimately an American International Businessman. His mother, Suvapee, was from Thailand. Sook, his sisters, extended Asian family, and his father's close friends form an alliance to infiltrate, track down, and bring their style of justice to those who murdered his father, and murder countless others everyday.
There is occasionally a fine line between good and evil, treason and patriotism, and love and lust, as Sook discovers. He learns there are many pleasurable ways to reap revenge on the high and mighty: the big American business personalities and good for nothing career government servants who think they are safe and secure from those they destroy. No longer should any of them sleep well. The silent majority are still silent but no longer passive. Some may find our ways illegal, immoral, and inhumane. Well that is the idea: there is pleasure in revenge!
About the Author
Mr. Kent, the author of Balance, is one Kent Amos Hammond, Jr., born in Glendale California. Kent's father was a convicted felon and a former Navy Chief, and Kent's best friend. His Dad died of cancer in the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. His mother was a direct ancestor of Elbridge Gerry, one of the nation's founding fathers.
Their relationship was strained and Kent does not know the present whereabouts of his Mother. Kent served a decade in the US Navy during the 60's and 70's, 13 years with a major defense contractor as a logistics program manager, 7 years with a leading aerospace firm overseeing product support globally, and another decade in the international information technology arena. He lived in India, Thailand, Japan, Scotland, Virginia, California, and Louisiana. He has conducted business in Western Europe, Southeast Asia, Korea, China, Brazil, the Middle East, and visited a few islands as well. His wife is Thai; their son is serving in the nuclear US Navy, and their 2 daughters are earning a living in the world of Hollywood movie making. Kent has led an interesting life, sometimes perilous, sometimes dull.
Although the book is pure fiction, the description of locales, customs, and some of the intrigue is from Kent's first hand experiences. Kent and his wife, Suvapee, were living in Northridge when the January 17, 1994 Earthquake hit and destroyed their businesses and home. They were residing in Thailand when the Tsunami hit on 26 December 2004, and in Louisiana during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. To understand the book's title Balance is to understand Kent's own philosophy of life.
