About the Book

Semi-humourous spy story of a new immigrant drafted into the US army during the Korean war. The USSR wants the US Army out of Europe by unifying Germany. The counter intelligence disinformation effort is aimed at changing the Russian General's mind.

About the Author

The author although an Electrical Engineer always had the affinity to write, and as a young man did. Then the war and other considerations changed his mind. College and work for a living occupied him for many years and only in 1996 he sat down on his computer and wrote Never a Straight Path, to engrave in stone what was only a memory.

His first novel in Czech language, which he wrote at the age of 17, was confiscated by the Czech organ of state security, as was his property after his escape across the border of the fortified Iron Curtain. He entered the U.S. in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen. He was drafted during the Korean war, but served in Europe because of his knowledge of Eastern European languages including German. He was supposed to have joined the counter intelligence service of the U.S. Army, but fate directed him in a different direction.

After he wrote his #1 novel Never a Straight Path in 1996, he wrote twelve more and published #2 Whatever I Touch and #10 AJ's memories of Grandma Doris. The following novels await publishing. Numbers 3 Peak of Disinformation, #4 Assignment Backlash, #5 The Plan and the Lost Tooth, #6 The Proposed end of Things to Come, #7 There is No Trouble at All, #8 The Adventures of Doey, Gooey, and Auey, #9 Escape while there is still time, #11 The Search for Someone in Particular, and #12 It Matters How You Die. He has finished more that half of novel #13 The Ballad of the Orphan Girl.

"This novel stands out because it is unique and should be published."
-Miss Tonya Martin senior Editor Scholastic Inc. New York N.Y.
