About the Author
Darnel Degand and Don P. Hooper, both born of West Indian heritage, were classmates at the University of Pennsylvania during the late 1990s. Uniting their talents, they worked together on several projects inside and outside the classroom.
The inspiration for Coomacka Island originated shortly thereafter. Don and Darnel sought to expose the world to the wonders of the Caribbean by creating new folktales that could be passed down from generation to generation.
Darnel is a multimedia designer currently residing in Queens, NY. Don is a writer and voice over talent currently residing in Brooklyn, NY.
Their second book, Coomacka Island: Anansi Jr and the Mango Truck is also available from Trafford Publishing. For more information please visit www.coomacka.com or email info@coomacka.com.
