New Day Dawning: Everyday Encounters with the Holy

by Linda Faltin

176 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover); catalogue #06-0924; ISBN 1-4120-9170-5; US$17.00, C$19.55, EUR13.96, £9.77

Welcome to the everyday spiritual journey! The words and images invoked by the poems and prayers in New Day Dawning invite the reader to an awareness of the holiness of all of life.

About the Book

New Day Dawning is a companion for the spiritual journey. Though written in the early-morning hours, it invites the reader into a personal encounter with the Holy at any time or place in life. While drawing on the wisdom of innumerable other writers- both past and present- the author revels in the ordinary, everyday experiences of life, sharing with openness and deep honesty her own doubts and questions as well as her hopes and deep faith. This lovely little book invites the reader in, as it speaks in a voice which resonates deeply with the searching heart.

The book is divided into nine sections, the poems, prayers and psalms offering reflections on everything from the state of the world to early-morning birdsong; on the incomparable fragrance of brewing coffee to the meaning of the word "self-contained". In New Day Dawning, Linda Faltin provides a view of her surroundings which is both unique and amazingly universal, as she paints word pictures of what she sees, hears, and experiences in her own encounters with the Holy every day.

About the Author

Linda Faltin has been writing since childhood, always with the desire to become an author. However, her adult career path was spent, first, as a registered nurse and then, in a midlife career change, as an ordained Lutheran minister. Over the years, her writing credits have included four years of contributing the "Made for Living" column to the Coral Springs Forum in Florida, as well as numerous pastors' columns in North Carolina newspapers. She has also been keeping a journal for more than thirty years. With her retirement has come a return to writing, as well as more time for family, friends, and pursuit of the spiritual journey.
