Excerpts

The rain continued to fall and the windshield wipers continued to do their job when Bill suddenly had a gripping feeling in his stomach. He knew something was amiss and now realized what it was. He couldn't come up with an explanation for it though, and it made him uneasy. The steady rainfall was hitting the van, but it appeared that was all it was hitting. Nothing else seemed to be getting wet.

"You fool! It was not time for us to have close contact with this...family...the Digworths yet," Garren said. "Send your study group a message telling them to back off until they hear from me." "Yes Sir,"Garren's lieutenant snapped back.

"You know what our mission is here; our very existence depends on it. Stop at nothing to accomplish your goal,"Garren ordered.

"Some of these humans are what they call movie stars. Others are rock stars, and still others are humans that play sports. They are highly regarded in their world, especially if some have achieved a superior level of performance over others. Such is the case with this Chad Ericson. They call him 'most valuable'. I believe he will be most valuable to us as well."

He looked around to see if anyone else may have seen it, but there was no one in sight. The evening breeze carried no sounds other than a few chirping crickets and the distant sounds of the water park. Tyler stood up and began to make his way down the path toward the gazebo. The floating orb was faintly lit by a glow he had seen once before.

Marc jumped off the front end and pulled the boatfurther onto the beach. As he was helping Jane out of the boat, Bill jumped out carrying the 30-30 rifle.
"Do you really think that's necessary, Bill? I mean...jeez!"Marc asked.
"I hope not, but I'm not taking any chances - not after what happened to Sylvia White."
"Yeah, you're right, but...do you think...er...you know, what Lisa saw," Marc said with a shudder of fear.
"Damnit, I don't know!" Bill exploded. "How the hell do I know what's on this goddam island? I'll tell you one thing though; we'd better find Tyler and Catie soon! I mean real damned soon! This was supposed to be a family vacation, not some search and rescue damned thing! Come on, let's get moving!"
