About the Book About the Author Excerpts

About the Book

This story is about a little duck who is so awkward and a total misfit in his barnyard society. He is teased and tormented daily by all the other farm animals. He becomes so unhappy at not having any friends that he runs away form home. His adventure takes him deep into the woods where he encounters creatures unfamiliar to him. They shun him too. Poor Dumpty.

About the Author

I started to write stories for my children when they were quite young. I would make up these stories to entertain them when the weather was too bad for them to play outside. They enjoyed them so much, that I turned it into a game. There was quite a bit of dialogue in my stories, and I divided the speaking parts between them. I became a storyteller and they became the characters. The children were eager to know how to pronounce every word of their parts in the story. My son was able to read and tell time before he entered kindergarten, and I believe that this role-play contributed to his early advancement.
