About the Book About the Author Excerpts About the Book
This book was inspired by the stories told by my Grandmother on how hard life was when she was young and follows the life of a girl, Juliet.
Juliet was the youngest child of a poor family who lived in the Victorian times, the late 1800s. The story takes the readers through the various stages of her life, poor but happy, distraught, hardship, abuse, happiness and finally release. It also illustrates the depravation and callous world in which she lived, but also there are kind and decent people, of which some helped Juliet on her way.
About the Author
![]()
I am a widow aged 64 and have 2 children and 7 grandchildren. I was born and raised in Brockley, South East London, except for various periods of time when I was sent to live outside London for health reasons. When I was very young I used to listen to my grandmother telling me stories about her life and how hard times were in her young days, which finally prompted me to write this book.
