About the Author

Kimberly Lord has loved and cared for animals since she came nose to nose with her family's first dog, "Buddy". Her desire to help animals led her to pursue a 15-year career as a Bylaw, Animal Welfare Officer and to national certification as an Animal Care Professional.

Kimberly has overseen the Animal Welfare Services for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the Village of Pemberton, and the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. As the Coordinator of the Volunteer Animal Disaster Preparedness Team for Whistler, she organized enough emergency supplies to help up to 500 animals in the event of an emergency. Her extensive training, in both Canada and the United States, includes multiple certificates related to bylaw enforcement, animal welfare, cruelty investigation, animal rescue, and first aid care. She also served as an RCMP Auxiliary Constable for six years in Whistler. Her fondest memories are of finding the RIGHT life long home for many animals that came under her care.

Kimberly is the owner of Animal Welfare Consulting Inc. a business located in Centreville, Maryland, USA. It offers instructional training for today's Animal Welfare Officers and Shelter Representatives, and helps participants apply skills to server their communities as Animal Care Professionals.
