Kelpis are “ocean people” that begin their lives as seaweed in giant kelp forests in the Pacific Ocean.

About the Author

Silvia Lauretti-Goldhamer was born in Italy and grew up in Germany near the Black Forest.

As a former flight attendant, she has traveled a lot and has been inspired by different cultures and ways of life.

In 2001 she moved to Cayucos on California’s Central Coast. The beauty and ever–changing panorama of the Pacific inspires her crafts and photography; she is currently working on a book about coastal crafts.

A few years ago, Silvia started decorating kelp as people and created unique greeting cards featuring these characters.

The positive response they received and her wish to publish a children’s book has inspired her to write the book Meet the Kelpis!.

This book is not only for children; it also puts a big smile on the faces of adults. Enjoy it!
