by Cynthia Barlow

With topics ranging from the nature of love to the essence of leadership, this book is an uplifting collection of columns inspiring readers to shift the way they view life.

About the Book

Former U. S. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said that in order to succeed one must “realize that overnight, chicken shit can turn into chicken salad.” Though the analogy is slightly different, chicken shit can also fertilize the ground and strengthen crops. It’s potent stuff, chicken shit, and worthy of some words.

In this insightful, humorous and moving collection of commentaries and personal stories, Cynthia Barlow provides points of reference in a landscape void of landmarks: the emotional life of the human spirit. As one fan of hers put it, “Cynthia uncovers the currents of meaning in everyday living that most of us miss,” currents that illuminate the cloud of confusion in which many people find themselves in today’s fast-paced world.

Ms. Barlow has survived a series of set-backs, including a near-death experience, only to find that her stories, told during her workshops, seemed to help others and she developed a following of sorts; people who find their way to her extraordinary empowerment programs. Through her life journey she is able to shed light on the path we all walk: that of the inner voyage.

Chicken Shi(f)t for the Soul, with insights sprouted from the reflective process required to decompose the daily events of life, will comfort, strengthen, and inspire the reader. The columns – with topics ranging from the nature of love to the essence of leadership – chronicle the fertilization process that produced the rich soil of Ms. Barlow’s life. Reading this book will enrich yours.

About the Author

Cynthia Barlow, dynamic public speaker, facilitator, and life skills coach, has conducted self-development seminars and spiritual retreats for the past two decades. Her enthusiastic, humorous, no-nonsense mixture of tough love and tenderness has inspired thousands of people from all walks of life.

An expert in emotional repair, she calls herself a “spiritual paramedic.” As one fan summed it up, “Cynthia uncovers the currents of meaning in everyday living that most of us miss.” Cindy’s most notable skills lie in her ability to present complex material to audiences in clear, easy to understand language. She has a natural ability to link the learning process for her students by rooting concepts with clear, applicable examples.

After the end of a seventeen-year marriage, Cindy eventually moved to Toronto where she had established a strong group of students and supporters by virtue of her position as a top program leader for a U.S. training company. In 1998 she founded Constellation Learning, Inc. to help people find their emotional footing, a necessary skill set in today’s world. “We’ve become so dependent on numbers and machines in our fast-paced world that our emotional muscles have atrophied.” she says. “Our programs help people exercise their brains in partnership with their hearts. This collaboration cements experience as an accurate compass for future decision making. In this way we are accelerating the evolution of leadership through human interaction.”

In addition to leading her flagship course, The Trust Program, Ms. Barlow conducts workshops and leadership development classes for a wide variety of corporate clients. She is passionate about the workings of the human mind, faith in the unseen, trees, water, and chocolate of any kind.
