About the Book

After Hurricane Katrina two little boys are reunited on a bridge while trying to make it to safety. One boy, Edmond, is safe with his mother. The other boy, Lakota, has been separated from his family and is all alone and scared. Edmond tells him not to be afraid because he has a special friend that will protect them. His guardian angel. From this point on everyone who comes to help the boys are angels. Either earth angels or the guardian angel. The boys are the only ones who can see the angel's wings. The boys make it off the bridge and to a Hurricane shelter, where they meet Mother Angel, Nurse Angel, and Neighbor Angel, the angels who run the shelter. Edmond and Lakota know they are safe. Weeks go by and more and more people come to live at the shelter. The boys try to tell everyone that all the people helping are angels and everything will be OK but no one will listen. Lakota's mother is finally located and he flies on the Angel Flights plane with Nurse Angel to Texas. Edmond is sad to see his friend leave but happy he is with his mother. Edmond and his mother find a new home in Okla. When Edmond goes to tell the Angels goodbye he witnesses Mother Angel, Nurse Angel, and Neighbor Angel packing their wings away in a special little suitcase. He runs back to the car knowing he has a very special secret he will keep always.
