The Religious Journey: The Nature of God

by Randall K. Stewart

263 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover); catalogue #06-1769; ISBN 1-4251-0012-0; US$20.50, C$23.58, EUR16.84, £11.79

An emergency room physician, having addressed the existence of God in his first volume, honestly tackles the subject of God's nature, especially the troubling questions related to pain and suffering.

About the Book

"Does God exist?" The answer given by Randy Stewart in the first volume of his Religious Journey series was, "Yes, indeed!" That statement secure, he now turns his attention to the next question: "What is God like?" Using the universe we inhabit as his platform, he guides the reader through a discovery or rediscovery of God's multi-faceted character. Today, many inside and outside the church struggle with belief in God and long for understandable answers to their questions. These individuals are the book's intended audience and their embrace of God its purpose.

About the Author

Randy Stewart again puts his medical and religious background to work in The Religious Journey: The Nature of God. The son of a Southern Baptist pastor, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978 from Samford University, majoring in history and religion. He has served over fifteen years as a bivocational minister and is presently the minister of music at First Baptist Church in Arab, Alabama. A 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, he is currently the Director of Emergency Medicine of Marshall Health System in northeast Alabama. He and his wife, Cathy, have two daughters, Mary Catherine and Allison. Dr. Stewart's personal struggle with doubts about God and his persistent search to find the answers form the foundation of his Religious Journey series.

Using his God-given gifts of simplification, analogy, and organization and his medically-engendered strengths of objectivity and problem solving, he passionately retraces his spiritual journey, hoping that what he has written will be used by God to make a difference in individual lives.
