About the Book About the Author Excerpts

About the Book

…'Twas the night after Christmas, when this story began to come together. Like a carefully woven tapestry, the "stitching" took some time to complete.

The book is also a story of love. How we need to love ourselves, before we can love others and how we need love in our lives, for love IS the jewel in the crown.

Besides offering "food for thought", there is the realization one need never walk alone through our life journey.

Taken from the author's personal experiences and a baring of her soul, when life was turned topsy-turvy through a sequence of snowballing events, you will be drawn to this story of "hope, strength and laughter" when total despair turned to joy through faith and an uplifting of the inner-soul and spirit.

As the author moved from the "sand dunes of South Africa" and encountered "snowflakes on the prairies of Canada", she later found those "sea urchins" she searched for "on the beautiful coast of Canada's British Columbia".

With "food for thought" hand-in-hand with "food for the soul", the author presents you with "food for the belly", with her favorite recipes from a wild, tempestuous, passionate and beautiful land: the land of South Africa, as she approaches love and cooking with wild, reckless abandon, with her thoughts of food ending her book.

The author's words are not written in a presumptuous fashion, rather simply written from her heart for the reader.

When you question the "WHY'S" of life, delve into this little book and dare to challenge life and to SMILE!

Soar with the seagull, as she dances amongst the teasing, billowing clouds of purest white on her solitary flight. Land with the lady-gull, as she swoops down to Mother Earth without crash landing and ache with her as she heals and becomes strong. Hear her name on the gentle winds which blow across the Straits of Georgia…
