Children with special needs need special instruction, not only for their sakes but for the future of society. The 'maladjusted' usually have more stress than they can cope with.
About the Book
Having been appointed to the post advertised as 'Applications are invited for the post of tutor and guide to boys with emotional or behavioural problems', I established what became known as 'the special class' in a Comprehensive School in the East End of London. The book tells of my experiences in the first year and is the story of the boys who were sent to that class.
About the Author
I taught several Grammar Schools — the last one of which became Comprehensive. Appointed as tutor to the eight stream, I became interested in the position of the 'under-achievers' and the 'problem' children in our education system and though more could be done for them so took a diploma course at The University of London in 'The Education of Maladjusted Children.'
I have two children; one of whom works in a hospice and the other one is a teacher.
