This is a true story about a tiny child named Cricket who lived in a State Hospital and a woman who loved her...

About the Book

I wrote this Memoir when I was twenty-five. No-one had warned me I could fall in love with a little child. Cricket shook me to the soles of my feet the first time I met her on the State Hospital grounds. A little girl who never learned to walk or talk or throw a kiss became my finest teacher. It was an odyssey into inner space. I wish I could gently hold your heart as she held mine as I met all the precious ones in the State Hospital for the Mentally Retarded. She enfolded me in bravery and courage for I loved her so.

Take my hand and come with me...there are some children I want you to meet.
