About the Book

This is a fictional story, which attempts to combine equal parts suspense, deception, morality, and of course... sex, with perhaps just a bit of intrigue. The author strives to strike a meaningful balance between physical passion, personal loss, and the main character's (as compared to the world's) perception of right and wrong. The story calls attention, in a fabricated manner, to the questions 'where is the line drawn' and 'who gets to draw it '?

Set in the mid 80's, the story takes place in four different countries and in three different languages. It is the in depth story of the many mental and moral issues that confront a resilient young woman who, out of sheer curiosity, allows herself to be recruited into the tumultuous world of Cold War spies.

Believing as many of us did in our youth, that she was 'bulletproof' - both physically and mentally - she stepped headlong into a world of sex, spies, danger and extravagance. And at the youthful age of 20, experience forces upon her the stark realization that, more often than not, the line between good and evil is razor thin, and equally as sharp.

In a very short period she comes to understand that beauty and brains can be as much a detriment as they can be assets, when applied to the learning curve of life.

She also learns along the way, that despite her somewhat lax sexual habits, there is in actuality, a very fine line between love and lust as well.

This is the story of the four years Jordan Paramore spent as a 'distraction' for agents of the CIA, who used her astonishing beauty and charisma in support of what it was they did, all over the world... and how it eventually affected the rest of her life.

Tag along with the free spirited Jordan (aka 'Rebecca') as an unexpected opportunity affords her the chance to wander the globe, while discovering who she is and what her path through life will be.

About the Author

Born in 51 years ago in a Naval Hospital in California, Mike grew up as a "Navy Brat", living in a number of places as a child, including the island of Taiwan. He spent his teenage years in a small neighborhood in southern California, only a few miles from the Mexican border. He held a number of jobs in his youth - everything from flipping hamburgers to turning wrenches as a mechanic. Late in life he chose to join the Navy himself, ending up a member of the Navy's submarine force for slightly more than 7 years. He was medically retired from the Navy in 1988. He has lived in a number of different states, some of which include California, Washington, Hawaii, and now Florida. He currently works as a Veteran's Advocate, assisting military veterans in acquiring their Veterans Administration benefits after discharge from the service.

This is Mike's second novel - the first being Ephemeral Encounter, a short romance novel also published by Trafford.

Mike's favorite comment about writing?
"I have an absurdly wild imagination, and writing is the only way I have found to empty some of the stuff that seems to accumulate in my constantly over-crowded brain."
