What a frightening experience to be lost, especially in unfamiliar northern woods! Now picture it as a seven-year-old… what does she do?
About the Book
What lessons can the woods teach us?
This is seven-year-old Lois's first camping trip! Her father, a well-seasoned outdoorsman, tries to give her some lessons in adapting to her environment.
Lois has different ideas! What happens to her is a “real-life” situation where she gets lost and needs to improvise quickly! In a thickly-wooded area, every tree looks the same. How will she overcome the fear of being alone? How will she be found?
Children – and their parents – can follow Lois on her journey, and together discover the importance of listening to their elders, observing the world around them and asking lots of questions.
About the Author
Toni Ferrara, an early retiree from the banking industry, made a new career choice – writing for children!
While Toni and her husband were raising their two children, a favourite time for all was listening to her bedtime stories – most of them invented on the spot.
They usually contained life lessons from nature, pets, school friends and everyday situations.
In her first published book, Butterflies and Birchbark, Toni invites you to accompany Lois on her first camping trip. Children and their parents will discover that interesting events can be found in the woods!
