About the Author
The author was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 10, 1916. He grew up in the Wollaston section of Quincy, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 19, 1936. He served for 20 years on active duty in North China and faced the enemy in two major battles in WWII including the last great battle of Okinawa. He served in the Korean War with the 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division and fought the Chinese army at the epic battle of the Chosin Reservoir, 1950 - 1951. He retired in rank of Captain.
