It has been a wonderful ride over the last 10,000 years. We are now at the summit, looking down with wonder. However, civilization's descent is going to begin.

About the Book
For the first time in 10,000 years, new cultures are about to be born. The last new human culture was born in the agricultural revolution. The end of an ice age made the earth very friendly to human expansion. Human population had expanded to a point where more food was needed than could be provided by hunting and gathering. Thousands of cultures existed at that time, but our current Taker culture has all but wiped out the original Leaver cultures.
Another environmental change will prompt a shake-up in human cultural evolution. This environmental change will be the opposite of the last one; instead of growth and surplus, there will be contraction and scarcity―our culture will collapse. We now have a human population that far exceeds the earth's carrying capacity in overshoot. This overshoot is now drastically reducing the earth's resilience and carrying capacity to a level far below what it could support 10,000 years ago before the agricultural revolution.
Several crises caused by our Taker culture will come together in the Great Storm―as humanity has never experienced before. The storm is beginning and will run through this century and into the next. The Great Storm will be the birth of many new cultures.
The new cultures will be different in their bioregional adaptation and expression, but all will share the same solution to this crisis. These new cultures will reverse our cultural story that the world belongs to man. Humanity will again belong to the earth in these new cultures.
