About the Book

Contemporary biomedical science suffers form lack of understanding the most complex control system of the organism and the society pay for this dearly. The postulated Biofield Control Systems (BCS) is a hierarchal organization including the organism, organs, tissues, and cellular levels, which develops in ontogenesis based on genetic information. It consist of four fundamental programs of life- development, maintenance, reproduction and death- as well as the mid that serves the behavioral aspects of these programs.

The physical carrier of the BCS cannot be reduced to the currently known fundamental physical interactions. It must have both energy and information components and be capable of interactions with the currently known fundamental forces.

Experimental studies presented and referred to in this book suggest that the operation of the organism cannot be reduced to chemical interactions since contemporary chemistry knows only electric and thermal forces, that the biological nuclear synthesis presented by Louis Kervran in 1960-80's is not a myth, that the non-structural memory of water manifests itself at organism, cellular and enzymes levels, that human intent and/or expectation may effect cellular equilibrium, etc. These experimental works are falsifiable and the theoretical concepts presented in the book suggests alternative physical models that may incorporate life.

About the Author


Cleve Backster is the founder of the Backster Research Foundation. He currently lives in San Diego and teaches at the Backster School of Lie Detection. Starting in 1966 and continuing to date Cleve Backster has conducted extensive research related to observed electrical responses in plant life and at a cellular level in other living organisms. His research into what has been called "The Backster Effect" has attracted world-wide attention. His work was featured in the bestselling book, The Secret Life of Plants, by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, and in The Secret Life of Your Cells, by Robert Stone.

Cleve Backster has been awarded many honors for both polygraph and his biocommunication research, including two honorary Doctor of Science degrees. James E. Beichler is an Associate Professor of Physics at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. He received his Ph.D. in Paraphysics in 1999 from the Union Institute and University by combining his Masters Degrees in Physics and the History of Science with new research in Parapsychology (he presently holds the only advanced degree in Paraphysics in the world from an accredited school). His scientific interests include the historical and philosophical foundations of Non-Euclidean geometries, late nineteenth-century science and Modern Physics.

Dr. Beichler also conducts theoretical research in the Physics of Consciousness and has developed a unified field theory based on a five-dimensional Einstein-Kaluza model of space-time that can explain life, mind and consciousness.

Dr. Beichler published more than 20 scientific articles and wrote a book "To Die For" that is in the process of publishing.

Lev Vladimirovich Beloussov is Professor of Embryology at the Department of Embryology of the Moscow State University (MSU). He graduated from Department of Biology of MSU in 1957, received his Ph.D. degree in 1961 and Sc.D. degree in 1974.

Dr. Beloussov's main interests are: embryonic morphogenesis, application of self-organization theory to embryonic development and ultra weak photon emission by living organisms. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers.

Dr. Beloussov is Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Biophysics (Germany), the Editorial Boards of the Russian Journal of Developmental Biology and Rivista di Biologia (Biology Forum). In 1990 he was awarded the International Carlo Bondi Prize from the University of Perugia, Italy.

John Bockris received his Ph.D. and D.Sc. from the University of London, Imperial College. His first eight years of research were spent on the Chemistry Faculty of the Imperial College, London University, studying electron transfer at interfaces. From 1953 to 1972 he directed a large team of physical chemists at the University of Pennsylvania where he was appointed full professor at the age of 30. After 19.5 years at Penn (researching electrode kinetics and fuel cells), Dr. Bockris accepted a Chair in Physical Science at a new Australian University (Flinders) and developed his ideas on a Hydrogen Economy. Returning to the USA in 1978 (at Texas A&M University), he continued to develop theories in Environmental and Electrochemistry, changing, however, in 1989, to the remarkable new field of Solid State Nuclear Chemistry in which he is a pioneer and the first to provide compelling experimental evidence of nuclear reactions at room temperatures.

Since 1997, Bockris has been interested in broad concepts concerning Science and Culture. His thoughts have been expressed in his 2005 book, The New Paradigm. Bockris has mentored 85 students in their Ph.D. research. He is author or co-author of 705 papers and 24 books. He has been elected to the Swedish Academy of Engineers and to the Yugoslav Academy of Science. Among his many awards is the Volta Medal in Physics in 2000, which is awarded once per century.

Elena Borisovna Burlakova is Professor and Vice-Director of the Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. She earned her Ph.D. (Chem.) in 1962 from the Moscow State University and Dr.Sc. (Biol.) in 1970 from the Institute of Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Scientific interests: Study into effects of low-dose exposures to physical factors and super low doses of chemical substances on living objects and human health, the role of bio-antioxidants in cell metabolism.

Dr. Burlakova is Member of the Executive Board of the Russian Center on Environmental Policy, Member of the European Society for Radiation Biology, Member of the International Union on Radioecology, Head of the Scientific Council on Radiobiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal "Radiobiology & Ecology." E.B. has Burlakova published more than 400 scientific articles.

Gabi Drochioiu is Professor of Biochemistry and Toxicology at the Al. I. Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. He received his PhD degree from the same University in 1997 with the dissertation on proteins and amino acids in crop plants. His scientific interests include biochemistry; biostructural outlook and structural-phenomenological biochemistry- a novel concept; proteins and amino acids (determination and characterization); bioenergetics.

Dr. Drochioiu has published more than 100 scientific papers and five books; he holds four patents. In 2003 he received the DAAD award from the University of Konstanz, Germany.

Juliann G. Kiang received her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences (Major: Toxicology; Minors: Physiology and Biostatistics) from the University of California, Berkeley, California. She works as Assistant Chief of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland, and holds the position of Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences Bethesda, Maryland.

Her current scientific interests include investigation into cytoprotective effects of inducible heat shock protein 70 kDa on hemorrhage-induced injuries including apoptosis and energy depletion, the signal transduction pathways of inducible nitric oxide synthase, and effects of bioenergy on signal transduction and gene regulation.

Aleksander Anatol'evich Konradov (deceased in 2004) headed the Mathematical Modeling group at the Institute of Biochemical Physics. He had MS in mathematics and worked on mathematical models for 20 years.

Alla Kornilova is the Head of Innovation Science-Educational Center at the Department of Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. She received her Ph.D. degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1997.

Dr. Kornilova's scientific interests include solid physics at high pressure, active and passive X-Ray and gamma-Ray optics, medical physics, biophysics and radiation biology, radiation ecology, problems of utilization (deactivation) of radioactive waste, biophysics of activated water, nuclear reactions in biological and microbiological systems. She has published three books, more that 120 articles, and has 40 patents.

Dr. Kornilova is an active member of the Russian Academy of Natural Science and of the International Academy of Informatics (a consulting body for the United Nations' Department of Science, Ecology and Medicine). She is also a member of the Physical Society of the Russian Federation.

Elena L'vovna Maltseva is Senior Research Fellow at the Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics, RAS. She earned MS degree in biophysics from Moscow State University in1976 and Ph.D. degree in biophysics from the Institute of Chemical Physics, RAS in 1982.

Dr. Maltseva's scientific interests include studies into lipid peroxidation (LPO) and antioxidants; signal transduction and second messenger systems; biological membranes and effects of ultra-low doses of biologically active substances. She published more than 50 scientific articles.

Harold "Hal" Puthoff is Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin that he founded in 1985. He received his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1967.

While at Stanford Research Institute (SRI, 1972-1985) he founded and directed a government-funded program on anomalous subliminal perception, or "remote viewing." Some results of this study were published in mainstream scientific journals such as Nature and the Proceedings of the IEEE.

Dr. Puthoff's present research interests range from theoretical studies concerning gravitation, cosmology and energy research, to laboratory studies of innovative approaches to energy generation and space propulsion.

He has published numerous papers on electron-beam devices, lasers and quantum zero-point-energy effects, two books Mind-Reach: Scientists Look at Psychic Ability, and Mind at Large and is co-author of a textbook Fundamentals of Quantum Electronics (Wiley, 1969). He has patents issued in the laser, communications, and energy fields.

Dr. Puthoff has been designated a Fetzer Fellow in 1991.

Savely Savva founded the Monterey Institute for the Study of Alternative Healing Arts (MISAHA), a nonprofit corporation, in 1990 and serves as its Executive Director. The initial objective of the Institute was scientific study of the phenomenon called "energy healing" - the ability of some talented individuals to interfere with the organism's control system by intent. From 1993 to 2005, MISAHA published the quarterly periodical "MISAHA Newsletter" that presented paradoxical effects in biophysics and medicine.

Savely Savva earned MS degree in mechanical engineering in 1955 in the Soviet Union. From 1973 to 1977 he attempted to present his Ph.D. dissertation on Thermodynamic properties of water solutions in nonpolar organic liquids to Scientific Councils of several institutions, but was unsuccessful because of a conflict with the ruling Communist party. In 1978 he immigrated in the USA. Savely Savva (Savely Zhukoborsky until 1983) has published 65 articles in fields of mechanical engineering, physical chemistry, sociology and biofield control system of the organism. Nina Sotina is research staff member of the Institute of Mechanics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. She received Ph.D. degree in Physics from the same University in 1973.

Dr. Sotina has made contributions to various areas of physics and applied mathematics, including theory of hydrodynamics stability, theory of Newtonian potential and theory of multiphase media.

Nina Sotina has been exploring the telekinesis phenomena For many years. Telekinesis is a general name for effects that can be performed by a person called operator on living organisms and physical devices at a distance. There is no satisfactory explanation for these phenomena within the framework of classical physics.

Dr. Sotina is an author of over 100 scientific articles and two books. She is an editor of the collection of essays "Physicists in Parapsychology." In her books written in co-authorship with Dr. Liudmila Boldyreva (her sister), Dr. Sotina introduced an alternative to the relativistic approach in physics.

William A. Tiller, Professor Emeritus, Stanford University, is Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science of Stanford University's Department of Materials Science. He has spent 34 years in academia after nine years as an advisory physicist with the Westinghouse Research Laboratories. In his conventional science field he has published over 250 scientific papers, three books and several patents. In parallel, for the past 30 years, he has been avocationally pursuing serious experimental and theoretical study of the field of psychoenergetics which he thinks will become a very important part of "tomorrow's" physics. In this new area, he has published to date, an additional 100 scientific papers and three seminal books.

Vladimir I. Vysotskii is Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Theoretical Radiophysics at the Kiev National Shevchenko University, Ukraine. He received his Dr.S. degree from Kiev National Shevchenko University in 1993.

Prof. V.I.Vysotskii's scientific interests include investigation and modeling of nonlinear phenomena in DNA; investigation of physical properties, memory phenomena and biological effects of regular and activated water; investigation of isotopes anomalies in living systems and the study of nuclear reactions in biological and microbiological systems. He has published three books and more that 180 articles. He has 15 patents related to radiation physics, laser physics, nuclear physics and biophysics.

Dr. Vysitskii is an active member of various International Academies and Societies (including Russian Academy of natural science).
