Growing up is tough. Especially when you're not accepted at home or at school. Maddy doesn't worry about these issues, but her best friend Tulip does. Every day seems harder...
About the Book
Maddy is a pup loved and adored by her family. Her confidence and self worth is astounding. She doesn't let negative attitudes bring her down. She loves learning new things, playing and just enjoying life.
Her best friend Tulip has a completely different life. Her family seems to be more concerned with themselves and they definitely don't provide her with the tools to have confidence and self worth. It seems no matter what she does, it isn't good enough for her parents. Her dad spends more time taking care of himself than anyone else. Her mother seems to be jealous of her relationship with Maddy. Tulip makes lots of mistakes, but truly appreciates her friendship with Maddy. They are a great team exploring life together.
About the Author
Susan graduated Riverside Community College with an AS degree in Graphic Design. During her first graphic design class she knew she'd write and illustrate a children's book. With much consideration the process began. Using hand drawn original characters, her real life dog, and inspiration from her own childhood; Maddy: Life Through the Eyes of a Pup! was created. Knowing the struggles a child endures growing up; Susan decided to write about real life issues using kooky characters to relay important messages. The questions at the end of each story are a great way to open up doors for parents to communicate with their children about tough topics. Because of the many growing pains children endure a series is in the works.
Author's Note:
My hope is that Maddy will help continue to connect families that already have a relationship with open lines of communication, love and support. And bring those that don't closer together. Children rely on their parent's love and support more than we know. It's really painful growing up in an environment where you feel as if you don't belong. If my book can make a difference in one child's life, I believe I accomplished something.
