The Abstract Journal: Artistic Apparitions

by Michael J Bollinger

122 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover); catalogue #06-3321; ISBN 1-4251-1693-0; US$14.00, C$16.10, EUR11.50, £8.05

An artist-painted account of an ever-changing reality embracing the flowering visual of abstract beauty and creative expression.

About the Book

The Abstract Journal, a collection of concentrated visuals, fuses prose, essays and journal narrative into an electric piece of spirited and lamenting text. Each descriptive view entangles contented longing and bright woe. Worded paintings of open-ended innocence embracing pixilated pain. A provocative landing-strip for a young artist florid ideas.

"An exiled artist wages communal war from a tower. An abhorring king pilfers his eyes - seizing his power. The artist leaps to his death grasping at each castle stone, the gathering crowds below - insist he was thrown."

About the Author

Michael Bollinger was born in and resides in Richmond, Virginia. As an artist he paints surreal landscapes, dives into detailed drawings of object and human visuals, all the while making and emotional connection with his subjects. Believing that art anchors certain individuals to the fragile maelstrom of reality, Michael has not only used creativity to express his voice - but also as vessel for survival. The Abstract Journal is a vehicle created to translate a canvas visual into a worded painting.
