See how one child learns to solve a problem on his own.

About the Book
This short photo essay, with narrative, shows the steps a little boy takes to figure out how to fit into his basket. He uses both ingenuity and imagination as he works on his problem. You can practically see the wheels turning in his mind as he works out the issues of size and approach to getting his little body (all of it) into a basket that is just a little bit too small for him. With some help from Grandma, he stretches beyond the 'what is' to the 'what could be' and finds a basket that is just right for him.
About the Author and Photographer
Born the seventh of seven daughters, Kay (Hester) Plitt was raised in Loveland, Colorado and received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Colorado State College (as it was known then). Peace Corps experience in Sierra Leone, West Africa, helped shape her world view. She and her husband, Bill, live in Arlington, Virginia, and they have two sons: Todd, a freelance photographer with an office in NYC (who produced some of the photos used in this story); and Jeff (Pierce), an actor living in Hollywood. Both of their talented daughters-in-law, Katie and Kirstin, are also artists. And, of course, there is one sweet, sweet grandson, Jackson, for whom this story was written. In addition, Kay wrote a lullaby for him called, "Hush, Now, My Little One". She has also written a number of songs about our responsibilities to the children of our world; the CD is entitled "Caring For Our Children".
Todd Plitt, who is Jackson's father, contributed several pictures for this book. He graduated with a double degree (BAFA) in history and photography from the Parsons School of Design/New School for Social Research in New York City. He is a freelance photographer with an office in NYC, and he does a lot of work for USA Today. You can see more of his work at: www.imageboxpix.com.
