About the Author
Patricia Lalande was born and raised in the small western town of Emmett, Idaho. She and her husband have lived in Aspen, Colorado, since 1975. As a private investor, bookkeeper, professional oil painter and mother who has worked with children as a volunteer teacher, she saw the void in children's education on the topic of money and money management and the resulting problems, as young ones went on their own. She co-authored this book to help fill the current void in children's education about money management. The books' simple, clear approach is new, empowering young ones to think in terms of managing their money, rather than always spending all of it.
Dianne E. Platero was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Aspen Colorado. As a current California college student, her love of photography is reflected in her courses. Raised in a single-parent home, she saw her mother work hard to provide basic necessities. Imagining that the only way to have financial security was to be born into a wealthy family or to work excessively at a highly demanding career, Dianna was thrilled to learn that by saving and investing modest amounts of money regularly, she had the opportunity to build a measure of financial security. She was happy to co-author this book to help young people appreciate how important it is to get an early start in life when it comes to saving for the future.
