About the Book
Meet Dog Hero is an allegory on leadership inspired by the classic romantic Russian Fairy Tale, The Firebird. The backdrop and the characters are magically transposed, but the epic story is essentially unchanged.
Strong, handsome, but naïve, adolescent Dog Hero brings an astounding gift to his oligarch, Dog the Great, whose headquarters are the Tsarskaya Tower that perches high up on the Kremlin Wall, like a falcon on a hunter's shoulder.
The brutal, powerful oligarch recognises an unwanted rival and honours the young dog with a poisoned chalice. Dog Hero is sent on a clearly futile mission, failure in which will lead to death by execution.
But this first task is accomplished with gleeful ease and speed. So is the second. But the third becomes Dog Hero's Rite of Passage, a full-blown quest to the frozen heart of fearful far away Siberia.
The triumphant conclusion of this precarious challenge, set against a desperate ticking clock, inexorably crescendos in a nail-biting but deeply satisfying finale.
