About the Author

Mrs. Pat Hightower was born in Whittier, CA and is a California native. She is a horse lover and nature buff. She has done assorted horse activities from breeding, to training, to clinics, to showing, to judging horses. She is a licensed multiple carded Horse Show Judge.

After College she moved to Mammoth, CA in 1965, and met and married her husband, Courtney in 1966. They subsequently lived in Bishop, CA., Independence, Ca., and Chino, CA., for an assorted number of years.

She began judging Horse Shows in 1968 and managed an active Riding Academy. She obtained a teaching crediential through U.C.L.A., and went on to obtain assorted multiple horse breed, judging cards, which allows her to travel to many Open, Regional and National Breed Shows across the country.

After twenty years in Tehachapi, CA raising the family, they sold their businesses and home, and moved to Shingletown, CA. Where in the heck is Shingletown? It is away from the big city hustle and bustle and into the big pine trees and vacationers paradise. Fishing, camping, hunting and relaxing abound. A location where within 30-60 minutes you can have a boat on a lake, a book in your hand, and a fish on your hook. Put a saddle on your horse and go for a ride.

Northern California gave her the opportunity to work seasonally for the National Park Service, in the Natural Resources and Interpretation Division, within Lassen Volcanic National Park. Both she and her husband enjoyed their times being employed by the National Park Service, and learning about the Parks in the far northern end of California.

Northern California is a treasure in the State. This book will help you enjoy the visit.
