A children's book aimed at addressing negative attitudes that result in anti-social behaviour by identifying problem areas, and presenting solutions that encourage positive, proactive attitudes in children, young people, and aspiring role models.

About the Book
"Do The Right Things" is a children's book that is aimed at addressing the negative role-modelling and anti-social behaviour that is prevalent in many communities. It also touches upon environmental issues that affect the quality of life for all living things. Issues and consequences that can be positively influenced by positive changes in attitude towards surroundings and relationships.
"Do The Right Things" seeks to address these issues by encouraging the awareness of self-respect, and respect for others and for our environment from an early age.
By combining colour, art and poetry, the aim is to attract children's attention to issues that influence the quality of life for everyone. It also seeks to encourage an early appreciation of art and literature as a bonus to encouraging awareness and sensitivity about the benefits of considerate social interaction and behaviour.
"Do The Right Things" focuses mainly on young children, ages six to twelve years old, where it is intended to have a greater influence on later behaviour. However, it is also aimed at parents, teachers and adult role models as an aid to fostering positive interaction between adult and child, as well as a sense of civic pride and self-respect among children and young people. Some of the words that are used in the book are not expected to be in the vocabulary of the average six or twelve year old. Therefore a glossary of words is included at the end of the book where it is intended that adult participation would be engaged.
About the Author
Mark David Rolston was born in Cambridge, England in 1960. He migrated with his parents to Trinidad, W.I. when he was seven years old, where he grew up and was educated.
Mark is a practicing professional artist and an aspiring writer, having a passion as well as a talent for these skills.
Over the twenty four years of his experiences as an artist, Mark has been commissioned to design and produce many original works of art, for local, regional, and international clients. As a developing writer Mark has compiled a collection of written work, mostly poems that are as yet unpublished. Mark is a parent of to children and a young adult, and he has developed his parenting skills over the last twenty years. He believes that the role-model values set by parents and adults are the examples that children most effectively learn from, be they positive or negative ones.
Mark successfully interacts with children and young people in his role as an art and craft workshop facilitator. He has worked with socially excluded young people from different backgrounds, and has both an instinctive and experienced understanding of how young impressionable minds and characters develop. "Do The Right Things" is Mark's first attempt at combining his talents and skills into a book which he hopes will delight children and adults alike, while it fosters a greater awareness about self-respect, and doing what is right and considerate at all times.
