About the Author

Monica MacLennan has been an administrator and an educator. She is a proud parent of four children and a grandparent of seven grandchildren ranging in age from infancy to their teenage years. She has taught, worked and cared for children from infancy to adolescence for a period of over forty years. She has given many workshops and seminars on caring for and educating children. She holds a degree in Montessori and was trained in Montessori by a student directly trained by Dr. Montessori, the founder of the Montessori method of education. She also holds associate and bachelors degrees in early childhood development and the development of human resources.

She has observed and studied children of all ages and has helped children in their various development stages from infancy through adolescence. She has attended workshops and seminars and taken classes in helping with the development of children who are gifted and talented and has had great success with gifted and talented students. She has also taken courses in dealing with children with special needs and behavioral problems. She has had exposure to children with special needs and has had great success with legally blind and children with Down Syndrome.

She brings all this experience and expertise to her readers and wishes to inform them of the best way to deal with situations. She feels there is a great need to encourage and educate parents to nurture and lovingly care for their children. She observes that children need limits but these limits should not stifle their growth and development. Instead, she encourages parents to listen to their children and help them develop their full potential.

She thinks that children are very special and each child has unique qualities that can be fostered and developed if parents, teachers and caregivers are given the right ideas and information to deal with their children. She lives in Lansing Michigan.
