Pictorial and descriptive beginning how an Elk's Lodge #2839 was started in Southern New Jersey.

About the Book

I, Frank Kolondra did write and photograph most of the functions we participated in since our inception as a Lodge in 2004. The result of this activity is contained in 301 pages of wonderful pictures and entertaining articles, limericks and poems.. I describe activities from initiation, parades, parties, initiation certificates, limericks, newsletters, articles of entertainment, Vice-presidents meetings, DDGER meetings, March on drugs, Army of Hope picnics, Galloway lodge meetings and finally rejuvenating an Elk's lodge by increasing their membership. I have assembled this 301 page book titled "A Brief History of an Elks Lodge" (A humble beginning of Greater Cape May Elks Lodge #2839.) as a permanent record which should help all Elks to read how we started.

Other Trafford titles by this author: Whatever I Touch, Never A Straight Path and AJ's Memoirs of Grandma Doris

About the Author

The author although an Electrical Engineer always had the affinity to write, and as a young man did. Then the war and other considerations changed his mind. College and work for a living occupied him for many years and only in 1996 he sat down on his computer and wrote "Never a Straight Path," to engrave in stone what was only a memory.

His first novel in Czech language, which he wrote at the age of 17, was confiscated by the Czech organ of State Security, as was his property after his escape across the border of the fortified Iron Curtain. He entered the U.S. in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen. He was drafted during the Korean war, but served in Europe because of his knowledge of Eastern European languages including German. He was supposed to have joined counter intelligence service of the U.S. Army, but fate directed him in a different direction.

After he wrote his #1 novel "Never a Straight Path" in 1996, he wrote twelve more and published #2 "Whatever I Touch" and #10 "AJ's Memories of Grandma Doris." Following novels await publishing. Numbers 3 "Peak of Misinformation," #4 "Assignment Backlash", #5 "The Plan and The Lost Tooth", #6 "The Proposed End of Things to Come," #7 "There Is No Trouble At All," #8 "The Adventures of Doey, Gooey and Auey" #9 "Escape While There Is Still Time," #11 "The Search For Someone In Particular," and #12 "It Matters How You Die." He finished more than half of novel #13 titled, "The Ballad of The Orphan Girl."

In the Meantime as an officer in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, required him to divert to write the "Brief history of an Elk's Lodge" as a project to help finance a building of the lodge.
