A cross between Memoirs of a Geisha and the X-factor, A First Karaoke Songbook is 'chic-lit for the discerning'. Set amid the world of karaoke - Eri Aoki is a modern girl with old-fashioned romantic problems.

About the Book
Favourite to win the prestigious National karaoke contest and a cool three million yen, Eri should have the world at her toes..only she's got more on her mind that just what she should sing on the big day.
While her family press for her arranged marriage to a dull but respectable dentist, Eri is secretly dating an American. To make matters more complicated, nobody knows that Eri has lost her job at Yamada Sardines and is now a hostess in a seedy nightclub. And is that other karaoke contestant making eyes at her too?
Falling in love never happens quite like it does in the songs. And falling in love in the world's fastest changing society when you are still trying to find out who you are is not easy. Something has to pop...and it won't just be the music.
Karaoke.
Three Million Yen.
Three very different men.
A contemporary romance, set in Tokyo, this is chick lit for the discerning.
