A poet haunted by his past, through a brush with death, an extramarital affair and the grace of his wife, finds peace.
About the Book
From Torment to Tranquility is a poetic diary representing the author's perspective on life before and after two life-altering experiences - a severe, almost fatal bicycle accident and an extramarital affair. Having survived both, he arose from the events changed forever - first, with the need to follow his heart and second, with an intensified focus upon self-awareness and emotional growth. Throughout his journey, he increasingly discovers whole new worlds he never knew existed.
Simple and incisive, his poems cut to the heart of a man haunted by his mother's mental illness and later rescued from it with lots of help from a serious head injury and the love of his wife.
About the Author
Loren D. Lutcher spent his first four years in Fort Lewis, Washington before his family's move to Martinez, Georgia in 1970. He lived there until attending the University of Georgia in Athens where earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in counseling.
After completing his education, he made his way to Los Angeles to pursue his interest in acting. He worked on several student and independent film projects as well as attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, all the while working as a counselor to disabled individuals to make a living. In 1994, he had a near-death experience which dramatically changed how he viewed the world. With newfound desires, he turned his energies to music, photography and writing and, in the process, discovered profound and ever-growing levels of satisfaction with his life.
In Torment to Tranquility and his upcoming autobiography 'My Name is Derk', he shares his most intimate thoughts and experiences in hopes that it may offer some support, comfort or inspiration to anyone in pain and searching for a way beyond it.
