A fun loving story of two first time farmers and their five years of living on their one hundred acre farm. True stories about the author, the animals, and the antics they all get up to. Lots of laughs, just a few tears

About the Book
Dear Reader,
Within these pages are events that really did take place, over a five year period, on our 100 acre farm in Verulam Township, Victoria County, Ontario, that we hadnamed "Active Acres". These stories will evoke laughter, and some may bring tears to your eyes as they recount the way "food" was grown on this farm firstly for private consumption then available as "Farmgate Sales".
Some of these memorable stories were sad and hard for me to write down, but most are full of laughs, fondly remembered, and just plain fun to retell. Some are age old scenarios, and others will have seasoned farmers just shaking their heads.
In these chapters I have recounted the joys and sorrows, the trials and tribulations, our everyday life as two first time farmers and our animals like Cloudy the horse, Heidi the apple loving cow and her unusual partner Joey, and what we all had to go through (and put up with!) in order to make life on the farm worthwhile.
There's even pictures!
About the Author
"About the Author". It all started with me having kittens and puppies before I could even walk. As a young child we had a goat tied up on our front lawn. Then, for my tenth birthday, I was given a Welsh pony. Gypsy was "pastured" via rope and a cement block, on the front lawn. My sisters and I rode constantly and it was our love of horses that eventually inspired my dad to think that owning a riding stable would be great summer work for the three of us teenage girls … I guess that it was inevitable that I would own a farm. I met my husband David in 1999, he was like minded in the idea of owning a farm, and we bought "Active Acres" in May of the year 2000. I was thirty-nine years old. At that time we only had a horse, a dog, and a cat. Those three would blossom into a "cast of thousands" or so David kept thinking as the numbers crept up and up.
Currently Tosia and David split the year up by living for six months in Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico and then the warmer Canadian six months somewhere rurally in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. And yes, we drag Sammi the dog and Blanca the Mexican kitty back and forth across the continent, along with all our stuff, in a car.
