About the Book
Adventures in Dreams is a poetic adventure book for children of all ages. It is designed to make poetry fun with stories children can relate to. Children have vivid imaginations and love to make up stories and Adventures in Dreams wants children to see the fun in doing just that. There are full page colour illustrations on every page. These beautiful illustrations are all hand drawn and hand-painted. Children easily get lost in the stories as the storylines are full of action and adventure. There is a Zoo Adventure and an adventure of being as tiny as a ladybug. The wish of being a mermaid is hampered by the appearance of a shark! Adventures in Dreams is great reading as bedtime stories and can also entertain children at Day Care Centres and Libraries. This is just the first of many books Shirley Amos is hoping to publish. She has already published another book: Dreamscapes which will include Space Dreams, which actually started her writing children's books.
About the Author and Illustrators

Shirley Amos was born in Brantford Ontario. She has had an interest in storytelling ever since she was a young child and was invited to her neighbour's home to draw on their chalkboard. Making up stories was something she did on a daily basis. She has been writing poetry since the 80's and has had many people tell her that she should publish her work. Living near Bowmanville Zoo has increased her love of the animal kingdom, especially the elephants, and she never gets tired of seeing the elephants walk down her street! That is the reason the elephant is on the cover.
Her daughter Marlene who also edited this book, encouraged her to do a children's book after a young friend commented on one of her poems: "That's how I think!" Her friend Shannon Alton and her niece Rachael Parkin helped to illustrate the book. Shannon is the granddaughter of Canadian artist Arthur MacDonald who published the book on drawing: Believe it or not, You can Draw. Rachael is the granddaughter of American artist Audrey McDaniel, who was a very talented artist and calligrapher.
