About the Author

Bob Hammer was born in Ruthvin, Iowa, and after serving in World War II, he finished his schooling in Minot, North Dakota. He served as a machine gun section sergeant in the 90th Division until he transferred to the Army Air Corps and flew out of Italy with the 455th Bomb Group on a B-24. The plane was shot down twice in 1944-45 and the crew was held in prison for a time.

He completed his education and served as an educator for three decades and enjoyed the hunting and fishing in the great state of Montana. He served as a part-time locksmith upon retirement and nearly full-time ?golf?. He and his wife, Carol (deceased) raised five children in their 48 and one half hears of marriage. Both were lay ministers in their church.

The biography of Mark Twain is well known. Bob Hammer, Twain’s posthumous collaborator, has written poetry, newspaper articles, journal letters, and many stories over the years.
