About the Book

THE DEVIL'S PROMISES is a suspense novel based on true story inspired by the author to share with the world about her best friend's tragic past. Urged by his mother, Nora, who believes that the family is cursed, Jonathan Applegate leaves his grandmother's mansion in London as a young man to live his life independent of the family wealth. About thirty years later, in the year 2002, Jonathan realises that he needn't have bothered because the curse caught up with him and the life of his eldest daughter, Jacky, is at stake.

In the end he has no choice but to return to the mansion to fight for Jacky's soul and that of his sister, Silvia, who now owns the cursed wealth bestowed on the family by an evil power contained in a relic that his grandfather, Ernst Schaefer, took from a cave in Tibet during a quasi-scientific German expedition called SS Mission before the Second World War. Schaefer made a deal with the demons in the cave that each generation in his family would sacrifice a child or more in order to benefit from the power that also bestows immortality.

Jonathan seems to stand little chance against the legions of demons that want his daughter and his undead grandfather who wants the relic. After all, he, his wife, second daughter Elizabeth, a detective, four priests, and a group of servants are hopelessly outnumbered. But then again, Father Jean Norway has been in many tough battles before and Adonai is behind him.
