"Mr Doots And The Stinky Green Car" written, photographed and illustrated by Vicky Cosgrove, a former early childhood teacher, is a humorous and inspirational, fiction picture book for children ages 5 to 99! The book is unique in that it combines photographs of a real Dachshund's head with funny illustrations. The story is about a nervous little Dachshund dog, Mr Doots, who injures himself escaping from a neglectful home. Mr Doots has some very frightening adventures until he meets up with a sympathetic human who has similar problems. Together, Mr Doots and his new found friend combine forces to help each other survive in an old green car. He soon discovers that he has some very unique talents for a dog and utilizes them to make life easier.The two friends accidentally find out about a contest to help stop global warming. Together, they have a creative idea and enter their old green car with some modifications. You will have to read the book to discover the conclusion!
About the Author
Author, photographer, illustrator Vicky Cosgrove, born in Brooklyn New York, has a BS and MA in Early Childhood from New York University. A former Kindergarten teacher, she enjoyed helping children bring out their creativity through stories and puppet shows. She is the author of two other children's books about dogs: "Squeaky Tyme" and "Peter Sausage." Vicky has been "owned" by numerous dogs over the years, many of whom were rescues. Her own disabled Dachshund, Otto von Rubbermeyer, was the inspiration and photographed dog for "Mr Doots and the Stinky Green Car." She is also a Dachshund collector. Puppetry has been a major aspect of her life, having studied it while a student at NYU. She is also a member of Puppeteers of America and has written and performed original puppet shows, the latest of which, "Punch 4 Peace," received a grant from The Puffin Foundation. Vicky has been an amateur musician for years, studying and playing the recorder and music of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque era and participates in Early Music Workshops. An avid environmentalist, nature lover and "tree hugger," she hopes that the message of "Mr Doots And The Stinky Green Car" will inspire children of all ages to think of creative ways to help save our Mother Earth for future generations.
