Most people know, that Mary had a little lamb, what they don't know is that Mary's real name was Heather and the lamb was only one of her troublesome pets.

About the Book

Here is the real story of "Mary had a little lamb". Find out that Mary's real name is Heather and the lamb wasn't the only pet that got her into trouble, She is a little girl, who knows no bounds, when it comes to choosing her furry and unusual friends.

Heather is happy to walk along the beach with her octopus, eating ice cream cones, and she doesn't think it a problem, to take an elephant to market with her. Unfortunately adults don't have the same opinion and force her to change her pets, time and time again.

When they get her into trouble, she is very imaginative with ways of not allowing her mother's culinary ambitions, to turn them into a tasty meal with exotic sauces and condiments.

If you like reading about animals, then you will love reading about Heather and her antics.

About the Author and Illustrator

Elizabeth Hulme has been a farmer's wife, for 60 years and has enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up on the farm.

Heather, one of her youngest grandchildren, went with her grandfather to market, and he bought her a lamb to bottle feed, and Heather's love of collecting animals, grew from there.

This stirred Elizabeth's imagination and when she couldn't sleep at night, she started to make up poetry and little stories about Mary had a little lamb. At the back of her mind though she was thinking about Heather and all the adventures she had had with her many pets.

Most of the stories are real, but some are fantasy.

Sally Bebbington has been drawing and painting since about the age of two and a half. Sally took a foundation course in art at Ipswich School of Art, and went on to do a BA honours degree in 3D design, at Manchester Polytechnic. Marriage and a family, soon followed, but she still kept up her drawing and painting. She belongs to a pantomime group and enjoys making some of the costumes and especially painting the large backdrops for the stage. This has led on to her painting large murals, for a local nursing home and three schools. Sally enjoys many crafts, especially making elaborate wedding cakes and themed, birthday cakes.

A friend asked Sally to illustrate her book, and she has had fun doing this, which has led on to her illustrating further books.
