About the Author

Yvon Chabot, PQS, bachelor of structural engineering and professional quantity surveyor, has been working full-time in the estimation and preparation of construction budgets since 1980. He has developed for different organisms and agencies the budgets of over 1 000 projects, which add up to more than one billion dollar. As an expert in cost estimate, he has been in charge of the estimation for the Société immobilière du Québec (public building service), and directed the estimation division for the Corporation d'hébergement du Québec (building division of the health network) where he supervised the development of the procedures for the cost control. Presently, Mr Chabot offers formation and carries out estimates, value analyses and cost control for various organizations and corporations.
