About the Author
Bob Abbot arrived on Vancouver Island from Kent, England in 1927, hsving been in the Royal Navy.
He started out in Canada as a tradesman, dabbling in roofing and house building. The depression of 1929 took him up island to find work in a local saw mill as, by this time, he had a young family. During the war years he continued to work at the mill, taught tree-falling, and was also a member of the A.R.P. patrol. Later in life, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball.
