Nuri's Donkey: Untold Stories & Unwritten Rules of a Village in Turkey

by Emily Bunker

133 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover); catalogue #07-2510; ISBN 1-4251-5604-5; US$15.00, C$17.25, EUR11.69, £7.75

I was the first American they had ever seen. But I was also a member of the family, married to the only one of them living outside the country.

About the Book

"Nuri's Donkey is a delightful look at life in a Turkish village, from one of the few Americans who has actually lived it. Her stories are witty, poignant, evocative and always insightful. Together they enrich our understanding of how good people (and some bad ones) make their way through life in an era of rapid social change."

- Stephen Kinzer, author of Crescent & Star: Turkey between Two Worlds

Rarely do we get a chance to hear the lost voices behind the headlines from the Muslim world. Nuri's Donkey takes readers to a remote village in Turkey, where they will discover remarkable stories - some funny, some tragic - about people who are not so different from us after all.
