About the Author

Melanie Littlechild was born in 1970 in Orsett England. After leaving school at the age of 16, she later returned to college where she discovered a love of literature and writing.

She now resides in Southern Spain with her husband and 4 children. Having 3 girls with long flowing manes of hair, she discovered just how difficult the management and eradification of head lice could be. After being bombarded by leaflets and lotions she started talking with other parents and soon realised what a taboo and stigmatised subject and condition that this still was. Parents telling their children who, and who not to play with being the tip of the iceberg.

This gave her the inspiration to write Sergeant Spikes Hair-raising Headventures She hoped that by creating fun, loveable characters that children could relate to that they would take note and respond to the numerous tips to avoid contacting head lice. This help and information should go someway to destigmatising this common condition that affects millions of children and adults worldwide.
