This is the special story of Jake who has lost his smile. Where has it gone? Who will help him to find his smile again?
About the Book
'Jake Finds His Smile' is a story providing a happy, positive message within a negative situation. Jake's Mum, for whatever reason, is emotionally cold towards her son. This leaves Jake feeling sad and struggling to find his lost smile in his grey, colourless house. Jake's cheerful, laughing, colourful visitors show him ways to regain his smile by remembering times when he felt happy. Jake does remember being happy and therefore does find his smile, but he is also reminded that he may still feel sad at times.
The story shows that a 'Smile' can be found. While this may not change the 'bigger picture' for Jake, it helps him by reinforcing positives experienced outside his difficult situation.
This book could be read by parents and children alike. It could also be used in a therapeutic setting to facilitate the expression of emotions both past and present. The book may aid the recounting of experiences by a child, a parent or an adult who identifies with Jake*s childhood.
'Jake Finds His Smile' is a fantastic book for anyone who wants to smile!
