Although physically inconspicuous, Bernie, Joshua*s name for his secret flying car, becomes the key to Earth*s survival despite mankind*s unawareness and the military*s aggressive efforts.
About the Book
Joshua’s Atlas is about a traveling businessman who invents the machinerywhich allows him to fly his car as well as drive it on the nations highways. To prevent inevitable governmental seizure, the need arises to maintain complete anonymity within his flying aptitude. A new problem becomes evident when his fellow citizens assume that his actions are in fact the activities of extra-terrestrial intervention.
Joshua’s security and his actions become even more precarious when true but completely benevolent E T aliens enlist his help with theirefforts to preserve Earth’s future, an actuality that Earth’s inhabitants know nothing about.
While Annie Phillips is the most important person in his life, Joshua must keep his secret from even her until her accidental discovery threatens to expose him.
Joshua’s adversaries are not the aliens but rather the Earth’s citizenry that he is trying to protect that can only jeopardize his effectiveness should they effectively expose him and his flying car.
Joshua also has a profound nemesis in the form of U S Air Force flying Ace Colonel Milton P Morrison. Although quite human, this rival is likewise trying to preserve Earth’s future but they now somehow find themselves on opposite sided within their efforts.
Joshua’s Atlas somewhat parallels the story line behind the mildly hokey Superman legend. It does this however within a realm of reality that is not maintained in that noteworthy saga. It also presents style, maturity, encouragement, and out of the box imagination to today’s youth and their development.
About the Author
Gerald T. Dale, born Gerald Dale Templin, on a Wisconsin farm in 1938, was raised in a family of eight children. I attribute most of my rectitude on my mother’s influence and my father’s stern authority.
My formative years created a desire to become a writer but this creativity was not developed at that time. Because of my limited resources, my writing career was considered a hobby while I struggled for financial equilibrium.
I spent three years in the United States Army beginning immediately after high school graduation. My career thereafter centered on factory work.
As I neared retirement age, I developed the need to return to my first love, the love to write. For my mentor, I appreciated the works of O‘Henry whom I recognized as the master of surprise endings. It was to this same objective that I aspired toward within this novels.
