This book is about the trials and tribulations associated with the ownership and management of Farm Kanabeam situated in the most southwestern part of Namibia in Africa. The book describes, as best as history will recount, that period of time since its beginning to the present time of the turbulent, often violent and charismatic nature of this part of the world. It describes its last, and continuing ownership by a foreigner, an American who was finally able to bring the property under control and restore order. Possessing only meager resources poised against almost insurmountable odds control was restored through strong determination and at great risks. The book addresses former owners, their failures and in some cases their brutality. The book is well paced, words are not mixed and it is direct and to the point. It describes, in more than sufficient detail the plans, training, conflicts, sufferings of human and wildlife alike which have transpired on this beautiful but remote and isolated property. About the Author

J. Douglas Bailey was born in the small city of Blurfield, Virginia situated high in the Appalachian Mountains. He left his home town in 1949 enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the United States Military Forces for over 30 years with a distinguished career retiring with the rank of Colonel. He served in conflicts in Korea, Vietnam and a variety of assignments and missions in the Cold War. His education includes a B.S., LL.B., J.D., Licentiate and Ph.D. in addition to all branch and senior military schools of the United States Army. After military service he was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation as a Senior Security Representative addressing their problems in 81 countries, 17 Island Groups and 3 Territories. He was later to install Crisis Management Programs for governments in Central and South America. Today he holds an appointment as a United States Army Freedom Team Ambassador to Africa in addition to owning Farm Kanabeam in Africa and being President/CEO of South West Africa Wildlife Preservation and Research Institute. He is married to Dr. Catherine E. Bailey, a retired educator, former citizen of Romania and a member of their National Gymnastics Team. She travels and works in concert with her husband.
