Four lives, four sets of secrets, four moments of betrayal…exactly how much devastation and tragedy can a young woman take?
About the Book
The Face of Deception is the story of Sarah O'Connor and her journey into forced adulthood when she is thrown into a world which most adults have never experienced. With her are her two best friends and her boyfriend, and although it may seem that she is not alone, she is.
Being the only child of an East Indian woman and an Irish man has never been easy for Sarah - her mother is controlling and will not allow her to indulge in adolescent fun while her father believes that she should be enjoying herself. All of her life her mother has always said to her, "If anything bad happens to the people around you, it's probably your fault," and Sarah has taken this to heart.
The novel starts out with typical high school drama but as it progresses, real-life issues arise fast. From out of nowhere her friend's cousin, a deeply disturbed and malicious individual turns up and befriends the group. The four friends face one problem after another and eventually, all hell breaks loose. They are all involved in an intricate web of lies, deceit, and betrayal. The reader must make the ultimate decision: who really is the Face of Deception?
About the Author
Sabrina Ali is a new writer from Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Victoria in 2001 to study Criminal Justice at Camosun College. As soon as she was informed that she had to take a math course, she quickly changed her major; English was always her favourite subject anyway. She eventually transferred to the University of Victoria where she obtained her B.A. in English and has aspirations of becoming a teacher.
The Face of Deception is Sabrina's first novel and she is currently working on her second. She still resides in Victoria, BC and thinks about getting of "The Rock" one day.
