About the Book

The story opens… with Sassy and Blinker outdoors near the road with other kids holding their darling pet either a cat or dog. A hot rod car comes whizzing down the street nearing missing the kids jumping back to the curb their pets held tight to their chest. In the next minute, the mothers yell for their children and they hurry home. Nerdy is a slowwitted boy who loves smashing his face against Sassy's bedroom window. She gets disgusted and tells her mother to help get Nerdy away from her window. Her mother takes out her switch, and finally it sinks in his brain to get out of there. Late that night he is sitting at the curb in front of his house and a loud car comes bearing down on him…
