About the Book

The Ballad of Florin the Fair is a comical adventure story written in verse for children aged 7 - 9 or older. The story follows the fortunes of Prince Florin the Fair and his band of trusty friends as they meet a witch, some dragons and, of course, a beautiful maiden. It is complemented by amusing and beautifully drawn ink and watercolour illustrations by William Webb.

This book will appeal to anyone who enjoys the richness of the English language and a play on words. The story contains 75 sets of homonyms, introducing children to the idea of words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings, or that look the same but have different meanings. These are set out with some explanations and examples at the end of the story for clarification.
