Observations by grandfather to grandson about the Second World War

About the Book
I have read with much fascination this collection of letters addressed to a boy who, at the age of twelve, would readily relate to his grandfather's reminiscence from the days when he himself was a boy of that age. These personal anecdotes, with their non-didactic presentation, their Scottishness and their boyish humour, I feel sure will appeal to boys and girls of that age, as also to adults, many of whom can still recall those war-time days. It is an excellent read.
David Norris, M.A. (Cantab)
Written in a charming, witty, and easily-read style, this little book brings back vivid memories of Britain's darkest days. I believe that the revelations from these letters will be as interesting to our present-day youngsters as they have been to myself, a survivor of the war and a contemporary of the author.
Dr. Stanley Miller, MB ChB (Glas)
